Hearing Aid Clinic

Free Monthly Support for NHS Hearing Aid Users

When is it?

Our Hearing Aid Clinic takes place alongside our Mini-Market and Café on the first Saturday of every month. We are open from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

This initiative is a Diocese of Guildford project in partnership with the NHS.

Where is it?

The Hearing Aid Clinic is held in the Coussmaker Room in St. Mark’s Church Hall.

We encourage visitors to stop by for a warm cup of tea or coffee and delicious cake in the main hall while attending the clinic!

What’s the Cost?

Absolutely nothing! This service is completely free and available to anyone with ‘behind-the-ear’ NHS hearing aids supplied by Royal Surrey and Frimley Park hospitals. Batteries and other necessary supplies are funded by your local NHS Audiology Departments in partnership with the Diocese of Guildford.

Hearing Aid Aftercare in the Community

Adjusting to hearing aids takes time, and proper maintenance is crucial for ensuring clear hearing and long-term use. Regular upkeep prevents unnecessary visits to the audiologist.

At St. Mark’s, our Hearing Champions are here to help! Our trained volunteers assist with basic maintenance so you can make the most of your hearing aids.

Who Are Hearing Champions?

Hearing Champions are volunteers trained by NHS audiology staff in basic hearing aid maintenance. Additionally, they receive safeguarding training and undergo police checks as part of their volunteer service.

What Support Do Hearing Champions Offer?

Hearing Champions provide a range of essential services, including:

  • Checking that hearing aids are functioning properly

  • Retubing, ear mould cleaning, and providing new batteries

  • Checking and maintaining hearing aid filters

  • Advice on regular maintenance and cleaning

  • Guidance on maximizing the benefits of your hearing aid

  • Signposting to additional support services and useful equipment

We warmly invite you to visit the Hearing Aid Clinic at St. Mark’s Church, Wyke, for expert support and a welcoming community atmosphere!
