The Power of Prayer

Prayer is a vital part of our faith and a way to connect with God, seek guidance, and find peace. At St. Mark’s Church, we believe in the power of prayer and encourage everyone to take time to reflect, give thanks, and bring their concerns before God.

Ways to Engage in Prayer

1. Personal Prayer

Our church is open for private prayer, providing a peaceful space for personal reflection. Whether you wish to pray in silence or light a candle, you are always welcome.

2. Prayer Requests

If you would like us to pray for you or someone you know, we invite you to submit a prayer request. You can do this by:

  • Filling out a prayer request card at the church.

  • Contacting us via email at prayer@stmarkswyke.org.uk.

  • Speaking to a member of our clergy or pastoral team.

3. Prayer Meetings

We hold regular prayer meetings where we come together as a community to pray for our church, our community, and the world. These meetings are a great way to deepen your faith and experience the power of collective prayer.

4. Weekly Intercessions

During our Sunday services, we offer prayers of intercession, where we lift up the needs of our congregation, community, and beyond. If you have a specific request, please let us know in advance.

5. Healing Prayer

We offer opportunities for healing prayer for those in need of comfort, strength, or restoration. These may take place during services or by appointment with a member of our prayer ministry team.

The Lord’s Prayer

Jesus taught his disciples to pray using these words:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.

Amen.
